Ryan is the Director of the Global Youth in Action Programs and Assistant Director to the "Awakening Global Action" gathering next August in Bali. Ryan also directed/co-hosted the first Global Youth in Action gathering in Bali, May 2006. He has lived in Bali for 9 months over the last three years, broadening his global perspective on the critical issues facing youth around the world. He has facilitated intergenerational workshops on the empowerment of youth at numerous conferences including Institute of Noetic Sciences, "Asia-Pacific Youth Conference" in Indonesia, "Many Paths to Social Action" at University of California, San Diego, and the "Quest for Global Healing I and II". Ryan is currently an International Studies student at UCSD.
Marcia is DIrector of the "Awakening Global Action" gathering, founder/co-director of the Quest for Global Healing conferences, and founder/executive director of the Bali Institute for Global Renewal. She is a conference entrepreneur who has been creating/producing numerous conferences and events for more than 30 years. Marcia developed the initial concept of these gatherings in Bali in late 2003 as a way for the world to learn from the Balinese about leadership, community, balance, spirituality and the need for cultural self-reflection.
Illana has trained with healers and medicine people from around the world. She has a MA/Ph.D from CIIS, and has worked closely with teachers of the Zen and Hindu traditions. She teaches at JFK University, has a private practice as a Spiritual Counselor, leads Women's Healing Circles, rites of passage rituals for youth, and uses indigenous healing concepts and practices in her work. Illana was the Conference Coordinator for Quest for Global Healing 2006.
Davis is working with Global Youth in Action in advising and implementing media design and communication and he is the creator of this site globalyouthinaction.org. Davis' passions lie in opening positive spaces for collaboration and connection of the healer within all of us. He is pursuing this in several projects including the Kayenta Community Drumming where he facilitates the circle, through dance and rhythm, to connect on our commonalities. Through his company, Rising Tiger Media, Davis assists clients in marketing and design through the internet medium. He received his undergraduate degree in CIT from DSC. Davis proudly was a part of GYIA of 2006.
Samantha is a teacher, host and speaker committed to facilitating courageous conversations that make a profound difference in work and life, with a focus on intergenerational and intercultural dialogue. She is a passionate Café activist with The World Cafe process and co-founder of The Meristem Group, www.meristemgroup.org which provides leadership skills for change agents creating inspired futures in multi-stakeholder environments.
Carmen Mauk, MA is an engaging facilitator who has a gift for catalyzing the conditions in learning communities for profound transformation to occur. She founded and runs Burning Man's radio station which she uses as a platform for trans formative broadcasts.
Lyla is a Dineh poet who comes from the soul of the Southwest of America -- Taos, New Mexico. Her poetry sends out a positive message and has inspired many audiences to join a more conscious humanity. She plans to study environmental sciences and solutions. Lyla has also won numerous awards at US regional and national poetry slams.
William's work as an emerging community and business leader, proficient yoga and massage therapist, writer, speaker, and consultant have taken him all over the globe. He coordinates, organizes, and facilitates healing space for events, businesses, and non-profits. His services and expertise have been lended to Michael Franti's "Power to the Peaceful Festival," Craigslist Foundation's "Non-Profit Bootcamp,"and for the transformational youth organization "Challenge Day." He was recently a co-facilitator and presenter at the Omega Institute's workshop, "Transformational Activism for Emerging Leaders" a collaborative seed-project between Omega and the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS)
Chelsea Michel Gregory is an Atlanta-born, Brooklyn-based performing artist, activist, and educator. She has worked internationally as a performing and teaching artist through the media of dance, spoken word poetry, and theater. She is a cast member and organizer for the multi-arts performance group We Got Issues, facilitating the WGI young women's empowerment curriculum and adapting the stories of diverse women to the stage. David is an engineer and self-proclaimed social activist at the University of California, San Diego. Service and work experiences have brought him to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Germany, and Tunisia, travels which have instilled in him a sense of global citizenship and responsibility. He is interested in sustainable development and is currently pursuing the study of alternative energy technologies.
Danielle is a 28 year old Australian who is passionate about social change, sustainable development, playing brazilian samba, and creating spaces for others to realize and act on their dreams. Danielle works for URS, an environmental engineering company, and volunteers as part of the Cultivation Team of Pioneers of Change (a global network and learning community of young people who want to create social change).

The product of many different cultures, Derrick N. Ashong considers himself a citizen of the world. He was born in Ghana, West Africa but raised in several diverse locations around the world including Accra, Ghana, Brooklyn, New York, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Doha, Qatar. He is a co-founder and singer in the band Soulfege, a group known for building sonic bridges that fuse the influences of the African Diaspora into a musical vision all its own. Soulfège is at the forefront of the Sweet Mother Tour project (SMT). The SMT uses the power of popular culture - from music, to music videos, to film to challenge a new generation to "fight for mama Afrika."
Stacey-Leigh is currently doing her second year at the University of Cape Town where she studies Social Science. She is part of the Emerging Leadership Programme (ELP), an international leadership programme aimed at developing the leadership skills of young people. Because of her keen interest in issues regarding social change, she has been a participant of two Model United Nations conferences and was part of the Global Youth in Action conference at the Quest for Global Healing conference in Bali, Indonesia, May 2006. She is also the South African facilitator for the Youth Dialogue Project of the Rockrose Institute.
Alpha Lo is a social architect who is one of the founding organizers of the "Gathering of emerging leaders - Transformational activism". He is a physicist and an experienced facilitator of groups with the ability to lead people into deep spaces as he combines science, spirit, somatic work, dance and art in his multifaceted workshops. He is the author of the book "Physics of expanded consciousness" and runs mysticphysics.com.
Issac is from the Minangkabau culture in Bukittinggi, Sumatra and has been traveling for the past four years studying first-hand the numerous indigenous cultures of Indonesia. Isaac has attended Andalas University and will soon complete his degree in Political Science. He was recently named "Cultural Ambassador of Sumatra" by the Governor of West Sumatra and has worked on a French documentary project, researched ethnic conflict in Borneo, and worked with several NGOs. Issac spoke at the 2004 Quest for Global Healing Conference on the panel of “Young Emerging Global Leaders” and was Operations Manager for Quest for Global Healing 2006.
